Saturday October 4 2008

Just wanted to report that the final chromosonal marker that we were waiting for - the Philadelphia chromosone, came back negative - which is a good thing. This keeps Nicholas in the standard risk category...for now.

Yesterday's bone marrow biopsy took place today at 9:00 and went well. It is only a light sedation, so Nicholas came out of it easily and ready to eat. We will get the results on Monday and as I have mentioned before, they want to see the leukemia cells in the marrow under 5%. The waiting has us on edge, but until then, at least we have hope and that is better than hearing it isn't under 5%. Hopefully, we were given the extra day by the grace of God to get the results we need to hear.

Until then...thanks for waiting with us.

Hi Donna- I can't imagine how busy your days must be, and I'd hate to set you back with a phone call... I was hoping to find an email address on here so I could make my message more lengthy, but this will have to do.
I want you to know that I care very much about your family and Nicholas's progress and am following the blog as much as I can, but aside from that, I am happy to help in any way that I can. I am living in Poolesville and any help I can offer, be it one hour of errand running or one day of babysitting, I am happy to do. Please feel free to call me or email me at any time if you need any help at all. If I don't hear from you soon, THAT is when I'll start bugging you with phone calls! :)

Good luck with everything. Your family is constantly in my thoughts.

Love,
Joy
